At Sunrise Psychological, we provide psychoeducational assessments for children, teens, and young adults in Halifax, Bedford, and across Nova Scotia. We welcome families travelling from other parts of the province or throughout the Maritimes.
Psychoeducational Assessments Across Nova Scotia and Throughout the Maritimes
Families from across Nova Scotia come to Sunrise Psychological for psychoeducational assessments. If you live outside the Halifax Regional Municipality, we understand that travelling to Bedford for an assessment requires additional planning. We offer flexible scheduling options to help make the process as manageable as possible for families travelling from other communities.
We welcome families travelling to our Bedford office from communities throughout Nova Scotia, including the Annapolis Valley, South Shore, Truro and northern Nova Scotia, and Cape Breton. We also regularly work with families who travel from New Brunswick and Prince Edward Island for psychoeducational assessments.
Families may choose to travel for an assessment for many reasons, including quicker availability, the need for a particular type of assessment, or a preference for working with a psychologist who has significant experience assessing learning disabilities, ADHD, dyslexia, or other learning concerns.
Making Travel for an Assessment Easier
Weekend appointments are available, and longer or more condensed testing sessions may sometimes be arranged depending on the age and needs of the individual being assessed. For families travelling a longer distance, we will do our best to organize testing in a way that reduces the number of trips to Bedford, while still keeping sessions manageable for the child or student.
Some portions of the assessment process can be completed virtually, including parent or client interviews and the feedback meeting. Standardized testing is completed in person at our Bedford office. If you are wondering about our assessment process, please see our psychoeducational assessment page.

Visiting Our Bedford Office
Sunrise Psychological is located at Bedford Tower on the Bedford Highway. The building is easy to access from the Bedford Highway and offers plenty of free surface parking for clients. Two passenger elevators provide access throughout the building.
Bedford Tower is surrounded by restaurants, cafes, shops, and other services, giving parents and caregivers a variety of options nearby while their child is completing testing. Parents are also welcome to remain in our waiting area during an assessment. Depending on the child’s age and comfort level, they may also choose to leave and return when testing is finished. This can be especially convenient for parents travelling with an older child or teen who is comfortable completing testing independently.
