What is included in a comprehensive assessment?

A comprehensive assessment includes the following:

  • Initial Consultation: A meeting with parents or guardians to discuss concerns and gather relevant background information.

  • Comprehensive Testing: Administration of standardized assessments to evaluate cognitive abilities, academic skills, and other pertinent areas.

  • Consultation with School Staff: We will connect with your child’s teacher to gather information about academic and/or attentional concerns.

  • Feedback Session: A follow-up meeting to discuss results, answer questions, and plan next steps.

  • Detailed Report: A comprehensive written report outlining findings, interpretations, and recommendations. Reports are provided in a timely manner soon after assessment feedback has been delivered.

Assessment Billing

We do not offer direct billing to insurance providers for assessment services. Fees are collected as services are provided, typically divided into 3–4 separate payments throughout the assessment process. Payment can be made by credit card or e-transfer.

We will provide detailed receipts for each payment, which you can submit to your insurance provider for reimbursement. Be sure to keep your receipts, as any portion not covered by insurance may be eligible as a medical expense on your income tax return.

University Students

If you are a college or university student, you may qualify for grants or funding through your school. We recommend connecting with your institution’s Accessibility Services office to discuss available supports.

Nova Scotia also offers grants to support students with disabilities.
